For a long time,

the world spoke in greys.

Days blurred like ink in rain,

soft, directionless, maybe even profane.

I learned the choreography of shadow,

how to fold myself smaller

and shrink in my strain.

Then you arrived, a flicker of light,

a hand finding mine in the dark.

We stumbled, crashed and spiraled

but have not fallen apart.

Affection spills from your voice,

it is in your eyes, I wander by choice.

The glinting light of a gem so rare,

I lose myself, in full surrender,

finding home in your care.

And now, and in the days ahead,

the world speaks in colour.

As it is now and in the days ahead,

my gaze rests on no other.
